Sandy's Canyon Trail

On August 1, 2011, Jesse and I went hiking down the Sandy's Canyon Trail and part of the Arizona Trail in upper Walnut Canyon, southeast of Flagstaff (off Lake Mary Rd.). The canyon bottom was very lush, with aspen, red-stem dogwood, boxelder, poison-ivy, Woods' rose, mountain snowberry, canyon grape, and several wildflower species. We went up the AZ Trail to a cool overlook above the canyon, turning back when a torrential downpour started, drenching us the whole hike back. The following week when my folks were visiting me I took them and our dog down to this trail again. Here are some shots from the canyon:
